Rep. VanSingel requests feedback about governor’s ‘endless emergency rules’
RELEASE|May 12, 2021

Public comments on proposed workplace rules accepted online

State Rep. Scott VanSingel today invited West Michigan residents to share concerns about permanent epidemic workplace rules proposed by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).

Public comment can be submitted to MIOSHA leaders via an online form at gophouse.org/WhitmerEmergency.

“Employers and employees at Michigan businesses have been through enough challenges in the past year. The governor’s endless emergency rules penalize hard-working Michigan residents,” said VanSingel, of Grant. “I strongly support our business community and oppose this administrative proposal for permanent workplace restrictions.”

MIOSHA’s proposed rules would indefinitely extend existing restrictions on Michigan businesses, including facemask mandates, social distancing requirements, and a limit on in-person work if activities can feasibly be completed remotely.

The rules could remain in effect even after any emergency public health orders are rescinded.

A MIOSHA public hearing will be held on the proposed rules on May 26. Residents should submit any comments through the online form by May 26 at 5 p.m.
