State Rep. Rachelle Smit (R-Martin) invites local residents to attend her local office hours in Hamilton and Martin on Saturday, April 22.
Smit’s office hours are an opportunity for constituents to speak directly with their representative and ask questions or share ideas.
The representative will be available at the following times and locations:
- 9 to 10 a.m. at The Trestle Stop located at 3366 M-40 in Hamilton.
- 11 a.m. to noon at Big Rock Music Barn located at 1125 122nd Ave. in Martin.
Rep. Smit represents people in the cities of Allegan, Fennville, Wayland, and Bellevue, as well as the townships of Allegan, Fillmore, Manilus, Clyde, Overisel, Heath, Valley, Salem, Monterey, Dorr, Hopkins, Watson, Wayland, Martin, Barry, Yankee, Orangeville, Hope, Prairieville, Johnstown, Bellevue, Assyria and part of Jamestown.

“I’m disappointed the court-ordered mediation did not yield a positive result last week,” said Smit, R-Martin. “Secretary Benson continues to withhold the training materials she hands down to clerks. Chair DeBoyer and I were both clerks; we both agree that these documents need to be turned over to the Legislature so we can ensure our elections are being run effectively and in a non-partisan way.”
