State Rep. Tom Kuhn, R-Troy, supported House Bill 4170, which reverses the Democrat tax hike from last year and cuts the state income tax from 4.25% to 4.05%. This bill passed through the House with bipartisan support on Tuesday.

“Michigan families are struggling to keep up with rising costs, living paycheck to paycheck, and cutting back on everyday necessities,” said Kuhn. “Inflation has increased and made it extremely hard for families to stay afloat. While the people are struggling, the state was collecting more revenue that is going to wasteful spending. This bill delivers much-needed relief by cutting income taxes and ensuring that families and small businesses keep more of their hard-earned money.

“The state has more than enough money to afford this tax reduction,” said Kuhn. “Instead of overtaxing our residents, we should be eliminating wasteful spending and putting money back where it belongs—in the pockets of the people.”
