Rep. Kuhn today applauded the passing of a plan to create a Michigan research and development tax credit. The bi partisan legislation develops an incentive program for Michigan businesses and research institutions to help grow and retain high-quality talent.
“With the right people, Michigan can lead our nation in innovation and engineering,” said Kuhn, R-Troy. “The House took a huge leap forward in achieving that goal with this legislation. This plan will be an asset for Michigan industry looking to build upon the incredible professional talent we already have.”
House Republicans secured a fair, simple plan that incentivizes businesses to invest in Michigan-based research. The legislation also supports ongoing Michigan research and development projects through additional job retention tax credits.
“Supporting current projects was key to this legislation,” Kuhn said. “This plan doesn’t just incentivize new projects; it makes a meaningful effort toward supporting exceptional work already underway in Michigan.”
The plan now moves to the Michigan Senate for further consideration.
