Rep. Jenkins-Arno supports plan to fix local roads without raising taxes
RELEASE|March 19, 2025

State Rep. Nancy Jenkins-Arno, R-Rollin Township, supports the House plan to direct state funds toward repairing Michigan’s local roads without increasing costs for taxpayers. The House advanced the Republican proposal to fix road repairs without raising taxes.

“The condition of Michigan roads has made the commute to work a challenge for everyone,” said Jenkins-Arno. “While the budget has increased year after year, our roads keep getting worse and worse. I’m sure I’m not alone in having to constantly dodge potholes just to avoid a blown tire.”

The plan will dedicate an additional $3.1 billion annually to infrastructure improvements by reallocating existing funds within the state budget and ensuring that all taxes paid at the pump go directly toward fixing roads. This strategy prioritizes much-needed repairs specifically for local roads (counties, cities, and villages), ensuring communities receive the necessary funding to improve neighborhood streets and daily travel routes.

“I’m happy to support this solution because it actually fixes the roads without putting an additional burden on taxpayers,” said Jenkins-Arno. “It’s a solution that’s long overdue.”
