Rep. Beeler says he is troubled that the Michigan Board of Education this week approved a resolution opposing his HB 5097, which would ban racial and gender stereotyping in Michigan classrooms. The legislation passed the House in early November, and Rep. Beeler says he wonders what part of racial and gender stereotyping the Board endorses.

The House Oversight Committee today approved a plan state Rep. Andrew Beeler helped introduce to rein in broad emergency authority used by state executive agencies — bolstering accountability to the people’s elected representatives in the Michigan Legislature.
Rep. Beeler talks about House passage Friday of the state’s budget for the 2023 Fiscal Year, saying the spending plan uses extra revenue to pay down state debt while also setting aside dollars for tax relief.
