Rep. Lower will be holding local office hours at the following dates, times, and locations:
Monday, July 30:
- 9 to 10 a.m. at Biggby, 1596 Wright Ave. in Alma.
Monday, August 6:
- 9 to 10 a.m. at Margo’s, 215 S. Lafayette St. in Greenville; and
- 11 a.m. to noon at McKenna’s, 321 N. Lincoln Ave. in Lakeview.
Anyone with questions, concerns, issues, or ideas is welcome to attend. RSVPs are not required for office hours.
State Rep. James Lower was first elected to the Michigan House in 2016. He represents the 70th District, which includes Montcalm County and portions of Gratiot County including the cities of Alma and St. Louis as well as portions of Arcada and Emerson townships and the townships of Bethany, Pine River and Seville.
Jim serves as chair of the House Local Government Committee, as well as a member of the Energy, Communications and Technology, and Tax Policy committees.
Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University.
Jim worked as Executive Director for a small national consulting firm. He was also a legislative assistant in both the Michigan House and Michigan Senate.
PUBLIC OFFICE AND AFFILIATIONS
Jim was a member of the Ionia County Commission, where he served as vice-chairman. In addition, Jim served as Village Manager for the Village of Edmore. He also was a member of the Montcalm Economic Alliance and has been involved in several grassroots organizations and campaigns. In addition, he is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim and his wife Kristen Lower live in Cedar Lake. Together, they attend Nativity of the Lord Parish in Alma/St. Louis. Jim is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing.
