Rep. Whiteford hosts summer reading program for students
RELEASE|June 10, 2019

State Rep. Mary Whiteford today announced a summer reading program for Allegan County students that aims to keep them reading over the summer months.

Students first through fifth grade are eligible to participate in the program. To enter, students simply pick up Rep. Whiteford’s customized summer bookmark from their local library, read ten books, and return their filled in bookmark to specially marked boxes in the library. One young reader will be rewarded with a trip to Lansing as a “Representative for a Day.”

“Reading between June and September is one of the best ways to keep our student’s minds sharp and combat summer learning loss,” Rep. Whiteford said. “I can’t wait to reward the winner with a truly unique experience here at the state capital.”

For more information, contact your local library or Rep. Whiteford’s office at 517-373-0836 or via email at [email protected].
