Rep. Webber: Oakland University project gets boost with state support
RELEASE|January 10, 2019

A renovation and expansion project for Oakland University’s South Foundation Hall remains on track with the state’s support, Rep. Michael Webber said.

A bill that moves the project forward was recently approved by the Legislature and signed into law, with Webber’s assistance.

“Oakland University is a vitally important part of our community,” said Webber, of Rochester Hills. “I’m proud to help advance a project that will allow the university’s extraordinary growth to continue. Our entire state benefits when we invest in projects like South Foundation Hall.”

Oakland University plans a $40 million improvement for South Foundation Hall, with $30 million coming from the state. The project includes renovating more than 55,000 square feet, plus a 25,000-square-foot addition.

The project includes technology upgrades for classrooms and other improvements to make the facility’s infrastructure systems more reliable and energy efficient. Oakland University will use the renovated and expanded space to support several academic areas including science, engineering, technology, math, health professions and others.

“We greatly appreciate the governor, legislature and especially our local representatives supporting the ongoing growth and sustainability of Oakland University,” Oakland President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz said in a news release. “The renovation of South Foundation Hall is an important component of our strategic plan and will enable us to continue to meet the educational needs of all of our students.”
