State Rep. Phil Green, of Millington, issued the following statement regarding the governor’s approval of a new Caro Center:

“I am pleased that we have reached a compromise with the governor and that she was willing to work with me on this issue.

“The governor has approved a total of 100 beds at Caro, funding for a new facility, and funding for demolition of existing outdated infrastructure.

“I am thankful to the people of the Thumb area who advocated for this issue, as well as the Caro workers and the coalition who dedicated themselves to seeing this through.

“The Caro Center is a pillar of our community, and our history of quality care is unmatched. I will continue to monitor this issue closely and provide updates as I learn information related to the timeline of the project.”
