State Rep. Triston Cole is hosting an essay contest for students in grades 6-12. The topic of the essay contest is ‘What is your favorite outdoor activity in Michigan during the summer and why?’ The winner will be able to spend the day shadowing Rep. Cole at the Capitol in Lansing.

“As a lifelong resident of Northern Michigan and committed advocate of outdoor recreation, I am excited to hear stories from our students on what they do throughout the summer,” Cole said. “People come from all around the country to enjoy the same lakes, rivers, and trails that we are fortunate enough to use all summer long.”

Students who wish to enter can submit an essay, one to three page, double spaced, describing their favorite outdoor activity.

Submissions should be sent with the subject line “Summer Activity Essay” to Rep. Cole’s email at [email protected] by Aug. 15.
