State Representative Lee Chatfield was named by Speaker of the House Kevin Cotter to serve as chairman of the Local Government Committee, and he will serve on three other committees during the 2015-2016 legislative session.
Chatfield was one of two freshman House members appointed by the Speaker to chair a standing committee. The first-term lawmaker also will serve on the House Education, Health Policy and Tax Policy committees.
“I am honored to have been selected to lead and serve on key committees that will greatly impact the lives of people in Northern Michigan and across our great state,” said Chatfield, R-Levering. “My focus will be finding solutions that protect hard-working taxpayers, make government more efficient, health care more affordable, and our education system more accountable so our children can achieve.”
