Rep. Afendoulis: Statement on House voting to reverse governor’s damaging budget cuts
RELEASE|December 5, 2019

Rep. Lynn Afendoulis of Grand Rapids Township – chair of the Michigan House Tax Policy Committee — today issued the following statement after the House voted to restore funding for essential services vetoed by Gov. Whitmer:

“With these votes, the House makes significant strides toward mending the damage done to Michigan’s most vulnerable residents by the governor’s budget vetoes.

“Our plan restores funding to health care and to programs to help children with autism and their families. It restores funding to help children in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. And it restores assistance students attending Michigan’s independent colleges rely on to attend school and improve their futures.

“It was hard to believe the governor vetoed this funding in the first place. But we are now a step closer to putting her manufactured budget crisis behind us and doing the right thing for Michigan taxpayers and families.”
