Brian Mills to serve as the new policy director for Michigan House Republicans
RELEASE|April 11, 2019

Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield today announced the return of Brian Mills to the Michigan House of Representatives.  Mills will serve as the new policy director for the House Republican Policy Office beginning Monday, April 15. The current policy director, Bill Stone, will be leaving soon for a new opportunity in the Michigan Senate.

“We have made incredible strides over the past few years by pursuing bold reforms and embracing creative new solutions. The policy staff team that supports our caucus has been an integral part of that success, and Brian Mills is the right man to lead that important team going forward,” said Chatfield, R-Levering. “Brian has a wealth of experience, many years of critical institutional knowledge, and the right expertise to help this caucus continue to drive the policy conversation at the state Capitol.  I am happy to have the opportunity to bring Brian back to the House, and I look forward to working with him as we build real, lasting solutions to the important issues facing Michigan families.”

Brian Mills is currently the chief of staff for MSHDA, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. He also served for a time as the organization’s chief operating officer following four years as the director of the House Republican Policy Office from 2011-2015.  Previously, Mills has served in multiple roles in the state House and state Senate, most recently as the deputy chief of staff to former House Republican Leader Kevin Elsenheimer and the chief of staff to former state Senator and now Congressman John Moolenaar.

“I am looking forward to diving into the important work taking place in the Michigan House of Representatives and doing everything I can to make our home an even stronger state now and into the future,” said Mills. “I have seen first-hand how much good this team can do for Michigan taxpayers and local families.  That is why I deeply appreciate the opportunity to be a part of that effort and help House Republicans continue to build Michigan’s comeback for many years to come.”
