Rep. Whiteford, who chairs the subcommittee that oversees the budget for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, says the spending plan she ushered through the 2020 budget debate focuses on families and children, but says she is studying how the Governor’s vetoes affect her priorities. The DHHS budget is the largest single budget in state government.
Whiteford spoke about federal and state legislative efforts to address human trafficking in law. She has personally spearheaded sweeping legislation to protect Michigan human trafficking survivors and help regain normalcy in their lives.
