State Rep. Joe Bellino of Monroe hosted Maj. Troy Goodnough (left) and Sgt. Dan Zdybek (right) from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday for the Sept. 11 Memorial Service at the State Capitol. The observance memorializes Michigan first responders and military members who died in the line of duty during the past year.

“I am urging the Natural Resources Commission to rescind new deer harvest reporting requirements, which I believe are unjust. These mandatory requirements include criminal penalties for those who fail to comply. I am sympathetic to the need for deer population monitoring, but the seven unelected members of the NRC simply do not have any right to enforce criminal penalties.

State Rep. Joe Bellino and Sen. Dale Zorn today announced the Port of Monroe, and the Arthur Lesow Community Center (ALCC) in Monroe will receive nearly $13 million in funding as part of the final budget proposal approved today by the Legislature.
