Rep. Lynn Afendoulis of Grand Rapids Township – chair of the House Tax Policy Committee – issued the following statement after Gov. Whitmer declared Michigan’s income tax filing deadline will be extended until July 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak:
“Extending the deadline to file income taxes in Michigan to July 15th was the right move. This will give Michigan taxpayers one less thing to worry about during this stressful time. It just isn’t realistic to expect Michiganders under stay-at-home orders to get their taxes done and filed on time, especially those who rely on tax preparers who also may be homebound. Let’s focus on health and getting things back to normal.”
