Whiteford celebrates the first coronavirus vaccines administered in Michigan
RELEASE|December 14, 2020

State Rep. Mary Whiteford, chair of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services budget subcommittee, released the following statement following the first administrations of the coronavirus vaccine in the state of Michigan today:

“This is a monumental day in our state’s history because it points to the beginning of the end of a terrible pandemic that has had a devastating effect on Michigan families. By next week every local public health department is expected to have vaccines available to Phase 1A individuals: those who are most vulnerable in our state as well as health professionals that care directly for COVID-19 patients.

“As we progress through the phases, I want to remind everyone that it is important that we stay vigilant by maintaining a safe physical distance, wearing masks when able, and continuing to wash our hands frequently. It is also important to stay home if you are sick, and to contact your health care professional if you are having difficulty breathing.

“I am thankful to the many Michigan health care workers who will lead the charge in administering these vaccines and who have dedicated themselves to caring for COVID-19 patients.”
