Representative Schuette Honors Midland Police Officer’s Bravery, Heroism
RELEASE|December 19, 2023

Representative Bill G. Schuette presented a state tribute this week to a local first responder in Midland for his recent heroic acts.

Officer Steven Pomransky, a 23-year veteran of the Midland Police Department, responded to a perilous situation on westbound US-10 near the Bay City Road exit ramp in November. Three elderly individuals were unable to escape their vehicle as it had become engulfed in flames.

Without regard for their own safety, Officer Pomransky and a courageous bystander were able to rescue the trapped occupants from the vehicle and save their lives.

“This heroic act is a testament to Officer Pomransky’s dedication to the highest standards of public service,” Schuette said. “His decisive actions, executed with courage and precision, not only saved lives but also exemplified the noble qualities of a true protector of the community.

“In the line of duty, Officer Pomransky faced a situation that demanded more than just bravery. It required immediate and decisive action to prevent a potential tragedy. The Midland Police Department and the community is proud to have an officer of such caliber who, without hesitation, puts the safety and welfare of others above all else.”

Schuette presented the tribute to Officer Pomransky at a Midland City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 18. Schuette represents the 95th District in the Michigan House, which includes all of Midland County.
