RELEASE|December 19, 2023

Representative Bill G. Schuette presented a state tribute this week to a retiring local official for his loyalty, devotion and service to the City of Midland for decades.

Jim Branson has served Midland as its city attorney for 23 years, performing legal services for the city and providing legal counsel for all aspects of municipal government. Schuette commended Branson for navigating financial pressures and evolving expectations within local government.

“With the personal sense of duty that Jim Branson has brought to work each day, he has been able to meet these challenges with enthusiasm and a genuine interest in efficiency in public service,” Schuette said. “There can be little doubt that his record and accomplishments over the past 23 years will continue to reap rewards for the people of Midland, and we offer our thanks on this personal milestone.”

Schuette presented the tribute to Branson at a Midland City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 18. Schuette represents the 95th District in the Michigan House, which includes all of Midland County.
