State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) today highlighted the upcoming reconstruction of Schoenherr Road between 23 Mile Road and 26 Mile Road in Macomb County. The project aims to alleviate congestion, improve safety, and replace deteriorating roadways and bridge infrastructure.

The project includes key improvements designed to enhance safety and traffic flow, including widening the roadway from two lanes to three lanes with a center turn lane and two through lanes, adding right turn lanes at high volume entrances, and upgrading drainage and shoulders with new storm sewers, curb and gutter, and pavement markings.

“We’ve been waiting on this for years,” said Wozniak. “Schoenherr Road has needed this investment for a long time, and I’m thrilled to see it moving forward. This will be a major improvement for Macomb County by improving traffic flow, safety, and making daily travel better for residents and businesses.”

Construction is planned to begin in 2027 with Phase 1, covering Schoenherr Road from 23 Mile Road to 25 Mile Road, and will continue in 2029 with Phase 2, extending from 25 Mile Road to 26 Mile Road.
