Rep. Woolford invites Marines to Michigan Capitol to honor 250th anniversary of United States Marine Corps
RELEASE|August 14, 2025

State Rep. Jason Woolford (R-Howell) is inviting all active-duty and retired Marines from across Michigan to the state Capitol on Thursday, November 6, to take part in a special House session honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.

During the session, Woolford will present his commemorative resolution recognizing the historic milestones and the enduring legacy of the Marine Corps’ service to the nation. Attending Marines are encouraged to wear their Dress Blue uniforms to the occasion.

“The United States Marine Corps has stood as a symbol of courage, discipline, and dedication to our country for 250 years,” said Woolford. “It is my privilege to recognize their sacrifice and unwavering commitment to freedom. I hope to see Marines from every corner of our state join us in Lansing for this historic day.”

Woolford, a proud Marine veteran himself, shares a deep connection to the Corps through his own service and his family. His wife and daughter also are Marines.

“The Marine Corps is more than a branch of the military. It’s a brotherhood and a family,” said Woolford. “For my wife, my daughter, and myself, it’s a calling that has shaped who we are, and it’s a privilege to honor all who have worn the uniform.”

The resolution will take place in the Michigan House chamber at the State Capitol. For more information or questions, contact Rep. Woolford’s office at (517) 373-3906 or [email protected].
