State Rep. Mary Whiteford (right), of Casco Township, is joined by her guests, Ganges Township firefighters Jason Jager and Angelina Boyles, in the Capitol rotunda today for the annual Michigan House of Representatives 9-11 Memorial Ceremony. Legislators invited first responders and members of the military from their communities to be their guests for the service. The ceremony included the ringing of a fire bell for those who died in the line of duty since Sept. 11, 2020 throughout Michigan.
Mental Health America has named Rep. Mary Whiteford a 2022 Legislative Champion. The federal advocacy group selects legislators annually who work to improve mental health support and increase access to care for constituents in their home states.
State Rep. Mary Whiteford, vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, today announced the Legislature has approved the finalized fiscal year 2023 budget, including the Department of Health and Human Services budget proposal she spearheaded as chair of the DHHS budget subcommittee.
“The Michigan Constitution grants preborn babies the same rights as every other citizen in our state. The Attorney General’s decision to abandon her duty to uphold state law is an abomination of the due process that our system of government hinges on. Any changes to our Constitution must be done following the proper steps. One individual person should never have the authority to change the law.
