State Rep. Donni Steele today announced she will host a Young Women’s Leadership Event at the Michigan Capitol on May 19, welcoming young women from across the state for a firsthand look at leadership, public service, and the legislative process.

Participants will spend the day at the Capitol meeting with female lawmakers, hearing from women serving in state government, touring the Capitol building, and attending House Session.

“I want young women to see that there is a place for them at every table,” said Steele (R-Orion Township). “Whether it’s public service, business, education, or community leadership, their voices matter and their ideas matter. This event is about encouraging the next generation of women leaders to step forward and get involved.”

Steele said the event is designed to give attendees an opportunity to ask questions, learn how state government works, and hear directly from women serving in leadership roles.

“Too often, young people only see government from a distance,” Steele said. “I want these young women to walk the halls of the Capitol, sit in the House chamber, meet leaders face-to-face, and realize they can make a difference too.”

The event will take place Monday, May 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the State Capitol in Lansing.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP to Rep. Steele’s office at [email protected].
