Rep. Schmaltz welcomes former Jackson County teacher to Capitol for State of the State

State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz on Wednesday hosted Lynn Prysiazny, right, at the state Capitol during the governor’s annual State of the State address. Prysiazny is former teacher from Jackson County. Schmaltz said she was pleased to hear Gov. Whitmer offer support for teachers but would have also liked to hear how the governor plans to help kids learn to read. In Michigan, seven out of 10 fourth graders can’t read at a proficient level.
