State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz will serve as chair of the House Families and Veterans Committee for the 2025-26 legislative term.
The committee addresses policy issues affecting children, seniors, veterans, military members, and state-run veterans’ homes.
“I am honored to lead this committee and continue working on issues that touch the lives of so many Michigan residents,” said Schmaltz, R-Jackson. “From protecting our children and supporting seniors to ensuring our veterans and military members receive the care and respect they deserve, these are the very reasons I wanted to serve in the Legislature. Our most vulnerable citizens deserve strong advocates, and I am committed to making sure their voices are heard and their needs are met.”
House Speaker Matt Hall announced his appointments to House committees on Thursday.
Schmaltz will also serve on the House’s Energy, Health Policy, and Communications and Technology committees.
