State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz today released the following statement on the passing of her son, Christopher Reardon, who passed away Friday, Jan. 16, in California.

“I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support and prayers my family and I have received over the last few days.

“My wonderful son Christopher Reardon passed away unexpectedly last Friday after a brief illness. He was only 31.

“We are still trying to come to terms with this unimaginable loss. Chris was everything to me, and I’m so thankful he was my son.

“Chris was an extraordinary young man with a truly kind heart. His compassion and quiet generosity touched everyone who knew him, and it means so much to hear so many people share how he made their lives better.

“Thank you again for your prayers.”
