State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz this week welcomed Pastor James Hines of Lily Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson to the state Capitol, where he gave the invocation for the Michigan House of Representatives.
The invocation duties rotate between legislators, and they have the option of offering a prayer themselves or inviting a guest to deliver it.
“It was an honor to welcome Pastor Hines to Lansing and hear his words to inspire legislators from across our state to come together and do good work on behalf of the people we represent,” said Schmaltz, R-Jackson.
In his invocation, Pastor Hines prayed for peace, unity, strength, courage, and the spirit to work for the good of all mankind.
