State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz today praised the Jackson Area Manufacturers’ Association (JAMA) for earning a $5,000 Reconnect Now Grant to help local adult learners access tuition-free education and build a stronger, more skilled workforce in Jackson County.
The grant, awarded by the Michigan College Access Network, will support JAMA’s efforts to raise awareness of the Michigan Reconnect program. Michigan Reconnect covers the cost of tuition for eligible adults looking to earn an associate degree or skilled certificate at their local community college.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work the Jackson Area Manufacturers’ Association is doing to empower local workers and help local businesses find the skilled talent they need,” said Schmaltz, R-Jackson. “By helping more adults return to school and complete their education, they’re creating better opportunities for families and ensuring the local manufacturing industry continues to thrive.”
The Michigan College Access Network’s Reconnect Now Grant program is funded through a state appropriation with additional support from the organization’s philanthropic partners.
