Rep. Rodney Wakeman, R-Frankenmuth; audio on House passage of expedited death certificate legislation
RELEASE|May 26, 2022
Rep. Wakeman talks about House passage Thursday of HBs 5615 and 5616, which would expedite the issuance of death certificates in Michigan by allowing physician assistants and nurse practitioners, under the supervision of a physician, to sign death certificates. Current law requires those certificates to be signed within 48 hours, but Rep. Wakeman says a lack of people who can legally sign such documents is causing a log jam.
