State Rep. Ron Robinson (R–Utica) today voted in support of a nuclear energy package that passed on the House floor. The energy bill package, House Bills 4124–4129, creates new tax incentives, education grants, and workforce programs to drive investment in advanced nuclear and hydrogen energy, positioning Michigan as a national leader in clean energy.

“This package creates the foundation for Michigan to lead the nation in safe, reliable, and innovative nuclear energy,” said Robinson. “By supporting advanced nuclear technologies and developing a skilled workforce here at home, we’re ensuring that Michigan families and businesses have access to affordable, carbon-free power for decades to come.”

The bipartisan plan provides targeted tax credits for research, development, and power generation using small modular reactors, while also establishing new grant programs to strengthen Michigan’s energy workforce through education, scholarships, and graduate retention initiatives.

“Energy is an issue that effects every aspect of our lives. From the gas in our cars, to the lights in the house chamber, it’s all dependent on our ability to produce and deliver energy,” said Robinson. “This bill package is the first of its kind and will position Michigan as the destination state for nuclear energy. More energy means lower rates for Michigan families who need to heat their homes in the winter and stay cool in the summer. I came to Lansing committed to lowering the cost of living for hardworking Michiganders, and that’s what makes this package so exciting.”
