Rep. Robinson responds to the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference
RELEASE|May 16, 2025
Contact: Ron Robinson

State Rep. Ron Robinson (R-Utica) today issued a statement following the May Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference (CREC), which revealed a decline in projected state revenue.

CREC, held twice a year in January and May, provides the state with an updated economic and revenue forecast that shapes the state’s budget planning. The January forecast informs the governor’s executive budget proposal, while the May update guides final budget negotiations.

“This morning, CREC made it clear that Michigan’s revenue is down,” said Robinson. “We now know that the state has fewer resources than originally projected, yet the Senate has already advanced budget that spends $1 billion more than the governor’s recommendation from January- that’s presumptuous at best, irresponsible at worst. In the House, we are taking the time to ensure our budget is built on numbers we can afford. We’re committed to using existing taxpayer dollars responsibly while avoiding overspending and tax hikes that could burden Michigan families.

“As chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs, my priority is to ensure every dollar in the veterans and military budget is used wisely. I will continue working to secure more funding for Selfridge Air National Guard Base as well as our veterans. Additionally, we also need to prioritize critical infrastructure investments, like roads, while avoiding wasteful spending. Our budget should reflect Michigan’s real needs and what people care about.”
