State Rep. Ron Robinson (R-Utica) received a rare honor for freshman representatives on Thursday, as he was appointed to leadership positions on multiple committees in his first term. Robinson will serve as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs and the Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity.

“The people of the 58th District trusted me enough to be their voice in Lansing, and leadership trusted me enough to throw me in the deep end. That’s where Marines do their best work.” Robinson said. “I’m honored to have been trusted with these leadership positions. I’m eager to get right to work for my fellow veterans and all the hardworking people of Michigan. I aim to make government work for them, and to make it work as efficiently as possible.”

In addition to Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship, Robinson was also appointed as a member to the full House Appropriations Committee, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Local Transportation, and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Medicaid and Behavioral Health.

“The appropriations committee and its various subcommittees do some of the most important work in all of government, since they are hands that hold the purse strings,” Robinson said. “Through my work, I aim to make our government’s budget process more transparent, less wasteful, and more beneficial to Michigan families.”
