State Rep. Joseph Pavlov is pushing for state funding to protect the Marysville City Water Filtration Plant from erosion and flooding, warning that the facility’s seawall is in urgent need of replacement.
Pavlov (R-Smiths Creek) submitted the project for consideration to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity on Thursday, July 31, along with local officials from Marysville, requesting $750,000 for construction of a new seawall to safeguard the plant.
“The water filtration plant serves thousands of residents and businesses in our area, and without a stable seawall, the facility is vulnerable to erosion, flooding, and costly damage,” Pavlov said. “Protecting this plant protects our drinking water, our economy, and our public health.”
The proposed seawall upgrade would ensure long-term stability for the facility, which is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable water supply for the community.
Pavlov will continue advocating for the safety improvements as part of the ongoing state budget process, with final decisions coming over the next couple of months.
