Office hours will take place in Sheridan on July 23

Rep. Outman invites local residents to attend his local office hours in Sheridan on Tuesday, July 23.

Outman’s office hours are an opportunity for constituents to speak directly with their representative and ask questions or share ideas.

The representative will be available from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Community Center located at 205 St. Clair St.

This month, Outman said he is available to answer questions from community members about the fiscal year 2025 budget that will soon be signed into law by the governor. Outman did not support the budget because he did not feel it focused on the overarching concerns of his community.

“As a legislator, I strive to bring greater government transparency to the people I represent,” Outman said. “That’s why I’m eager to speak directly with constituents about the irresponsible spending in this misguided budget.”

Outman said Democrats in majority strategically targeted spending to special projects and corporate handouts in specific areas of the state.

“I can’t support a plan that puts political strategy ahead of the universal and essential services that every Michigander needs,” Outman said. “Families in our area are counting on the state to provide education, infrastructure, and road repairs – but those items don’t receive adequate support in this budget, though it does fund frivolous ‘extras’ like zoos, pools, theaters and even public Wi-Fi in parts of downtown Detroit.”

A more detailed overview of Rep. Outman’s stance on the budget can be found on his website.

Outman represents Michigan’s 91st House District, which includes most of Montcalm County and the Kent County townships of Solon, Cedar Springs, Nelson, Spencer, and Oakfield, as well as the city of Belding and townships of Otisco and Orleans in Ionia County.

Residents can contact his Lansing office by phone at (517) 373-3436, by email at [email protected] or by addressing mail to N-1195 Anderson House Office Building, P.O. Box 30014, Lansing, MI 48909.
