State Rep. Mike Harris on Thursday criticized Democrats for rushing a bloated plan to spend more than a billion taxpayer dollars through the Michigan Legislature.
The House and Senate on Thursday passed a $1.1 billion spending plan after Democrats revealed what was in the final legislation only just before the vote. House Democrats skipped the normal committee process on Tuesday.
“Democrats suspended the rules, skipped committee hearings, and stuffed this rushed budget full of surprises,” said Harris, R-Waterford. “I came to Lansing to represent the people of Oakland County and carefully consider policies to help make our state a better place. This secret, shady, spending spree is completely irresponsible, and I will not vote to throw a billion dollars at costly government programs on a whim.”
