State Rep. Steve Frisbie (R-Pennfield) is helping lead a new effort in the Michigan House to stand up for the men and women who serve in law enforcement across the state.

Frisbie is a founding member of the Michigan House Law Enforcement Caucus, a group of lawmakers working together to support officers, strengthen public safety policies, and ensure law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to protect their communities.

“As a former first responder, I know the kind of pressure our law enforcement officers face every day,” Frisbie said. “They step into difficult and dangerous situations to keep our communities safe. They need to know their Legislature stands firmly behind them.”

The caucus was created as officers across Michigan face recruitment shortages and increased risks on the job. Members of the caucus say it is important for lawmakers to send a clear and consistent message in support of public safety and the rule of law.

Frisbie said the caucus will focus on backing policies that support law enforcement officers and agencies, including strengthening recruitment and retention, ensuring departments have adequate funding and training, and opposing policies that undermine legitimate policing or put officers at risk.

“Public safety is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government,” Frisbie said. “Our caucus exists to make sure the people who put on the uniform every day know they have strong allies fighting for them in Lansing.”

The Michigan House Law Enforcement Caucus has invited additional members of the House to join the effort as it works to support law enforcement and promote responsible public safety policy across the state.
