State Rep. Steve Frisbie (R-Pennfield) issued the following response to Gov. Whitmer’s State of the State address:
“House Republicans have been leading the charge on building a brighter future for our children and grandchildren in the state of Michigan. The people of this state made it loud and clear they want lower costs of living, better education, and a solution to finally fix the roads – and that’s exactly what we are working toward.
“The governor has shown she is willing to work with Republicans on issues like earned sick time and tipped wages, now she must work with us on a common-sense plan to fix our roads from the driveway to the highway, without imposing a massive tax on our small businesses, and ultimately our citizens.
“A hefty tax increase on working families isn’t going to fly with me. The people of Michigan have paid their fair share already. They deserve to have their money spent in a smart and careful way, so their children won’t inherit a crisis.
“Too often, Lansing only acts when a problem has turned into a crisis and then their solution is a predictable tax hike. Lansing does not have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. Citizens want value for their money, and I intend to deliver!
“I’m honored to be elected by community members to represent their interests in Lansing. I know the challenges they are facing, and House Republicans have plans in place to make our state safer and more affordable. I’m here to ensure the people’s hard-earned tax dollars are spent wisely so Calhoun County families can prosper.”
