State Rep. Cam Cavitt today awarded a legislative tribute to retiring Police Chief Joel Jett of the Alpena Police Department.
“I would like to extend my gratitude and admiration to Chief Joel Jett of the Alpena Police Department on the occasion of his retirement,” said Cavitt, of Cheboygan. “Chief Jett has dedicated 32 years of his life to serve and protect the people of Alpena, and the state of Michigan. His bravery on a daily basis is a testament to his dedication to our community and state.
“Chief Jett’s commitment to excellence in public safety, his leadership in the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, and his service to our country as a military policeman with the Army Reserves are just a few examples of his unwavering dedication to serving others. He has earned the utmost respect of our community, and all of Michigan. He will be deeply missed, but we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Throughout his career, Chief Jett has faced the daily challenges of police work with courage and dedication, earning the respect of the entire City of Alpena and the state of Michigan. He was an active member of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police and served as President of the Northern Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as an appointed commissioner to the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.
