Rep. Borton: Tax reform, insulin savings get bipartisan support
RELEASE|January 27, 2022
Contact: Ken Borton

State Rep. Ken Borton today issued the following statement after Gov. Whitmer’s State of the State address:

“Northern Michigan taxpayers want a fiscally responsible state government. Our state should spend smartly. We should also aim for low taxes, and promoting tax cuts was a highlight of Gov. Whitmer’s speech. Some of the bipartisan tax cuts we passed last year got a well-deserved shoutout. The governor opened the door to more tax reform she’d support, like removing the income tax for pensions. We should get to work reducing taxes for Michigan residents.

“On top of her support for tax cuts, the governor backed a bipartisan plan I co-sponsored to cut the cost of insulin. Saving people money is getting the bipartisan agreement it should.”
