Kahle receives Visionary for Safety and Justice Award
RELEASE|January 25, 2021

State Rep. Bronna Kahle of Adrian has been recognized by The Alliance for Safety and Justice and Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice for her steadfast commitment to support crime survivors.

Kahle received the Visionary for Safety and Justice Award as recognition for her efforts toward corrections reform and advocacy for crime survivors. The legislator championed efforts to pass significant reforms recommended by the House Jail and Pretrial Incarceration Task Force in 2020.

“I’m so thankful to the Alliance for Safety and Justice and Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice for this award,” Kahle said. “It’s an honor to be part of the movement to pass real reforms that improve public safety and actually help communities that have been left behind by the criminal justice system.”

“This past year, Michigan helped lead the way in rethinking public safety and addressing trauma among communities historically left behind. This work simply would not have been possible without leaders like Rep. Kahle, who reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring crime survivors receive the support they deserve. Thanks to her work, we can end cycles of crime and focus on healing in our communities. We proudly recognize Rep. Kahle’s leadership in this effort, and for helping make Michigan safer and more just for all,” said Harvey Santana, a former state representative from Detroit who now serves as the Michigan Government Affairs Manager for the Alliance for Safety and Justice.

Kahle said criminal justice reforms remain among her top priorities in the new legislative term.
