House Speaker appoints Clements to serve as vice chair of Rules and Competitiveness Committee
RELEASE|January 21, 2021

State Rep. TC Clements, of Temperance, today was appointed by House Speaker Jason Wentworth to serve as vice chair of the Rules and Competitiveness Committee for the 2021-22 legislative session.

The Rules and Competitiveness Committee is responsible for deliberating on key legislation that ensures Michigan remains economically competitive.

“I’m honored to have been asked to serve on this important committee,” Clements said.  “Representing a border district will enable me to bring a unique perspective to our discussions.  It’s important I help raise awareness in Lansing of the struggles our small-business owners face when competing with Ohio.”

The first-term lawmaker is a small-business owner and previously served as a Bedford Township Trustee for four years.

In addition to serving as vice-chair of Rules and Competitiveness, Clements was named to the Insurance, Regulatory Reform, and Judiciary committees.

“These committee assignments will enable me to learn more about a wide variety of issues that affect our state, but most importantly, my neighbors,” Clements said. “My background in law enforcement will be helpful for the Judiciary Committee, but I’m also looking forward to learning more about the issues that each of these committees will review.”

Clements represents the people of the 56th House District, which encompasses most of Monroe County including the townships of Bedford, Dundee, Erie, Ida, LaSalle, Milan, Monroe, Raisinville, Summerfield, and Whiteford, as well as the Cities of Luna Pier, Petersburg, and a portion of the City of Milan.

Clements encourages local residents to share their voices with him by calling his Lansing office at 517-373-2617 or emailing [email protected].
