State Rep. Scott VanSingel, chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, issued the following statement after Oakland University announced its ‘Strive for 45’ campaign Wednesday:
“I appreciate Oakland University for bringing this issue to our attention. I have worked closely with Rep. Ryan Berman, who represents many Oakland University students, on this issue and we will continue to address it in the upcoming budget process.
“There are large discrepancies in the per-pupil funding amounts that our Michigan universities receive. Rep. Berman and I are committed to further investigating the issue and working to close that gap, leveling the playing field for Oakland University students.”
There is a clear and present need for greater support for women in Michigan who are experiencing crisis pregnancies. If they don’t find the support they need, changes are high that they will either seek an abortion, or be destined for a life in poverty.
State Rep. Scott VanSingel today called on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Department of Health and Human Services to amend their unilateral orders and allow winter contact sports to resume in Michigan schools as was previously anticipated until the governor extended the pause last week.
Rep. Scott VanSingel today announced emergency funding will be available in parts of Western Michigan to eligible small businesses, agricultural associations, and nonprofits impacted by frost and freeze that occurred in spring 2020.
