LANSING, Mich. Rep. Steve Frisbie today praised Michigan’s new road funding laws and highlighted his role as sponsor of House Bill 4181, part of a package of House Bills 4180, 4181, 4182 and 4183 enacted Monday in Clinton Township. Frisbie joined Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Speaker Matt Hall and other legislative leaders at the signing event.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve done to make this budget a victory for Michigan’s roads and drivers,” Frisbie said. “This plan puts real dollars into fixing local roads and bridges that people rely on every day. We’re rebuilding the infrastructure that connects families, farmers and first responders, making travel safer and strengthening our local economy for years to come.”
The new laws direct state fuel tax revenue to repairing and maintaining roads and bridges across Michigan. The approach strengthens support for county and city road agencies and prioritizes the most traveled and most worn routes. Funding will support resurfacing, reconstruction and bridge rehabilitation through existing MDOT and local project plans.
Frisbie said the reforms will help communities like Calhoun County tackle long delayed work and improve reliability for school buses, ambulances and freight traffic. “People expect to see smoother pavement, safer bridges and honest timelines,” he said. “That is what these laws are designed to deliver…These laws will finally deliver results from the driveway to the highway.”
