Steve Marino was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2016 and represents residents in Harrison Township and portions of Clinton and Macomb townships.

Education
Rep. Marino grew up in Harrison Township and graduated from L’Anse Creuse High School. He is an alumnus of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and earned degrees in Economics, Public Policy and Public Administration, and Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. While attending Michigan State University, he played lacrosse, served as Student Body President, and chaired the University Committee on Student Affairs.

Professional
Rep. Marino was a Macomb County Commissioner and local business owner prior to serving in the Legislature. Previously, he worked in both the public and private sectors, specializing in public affairs and campaign finance.

Public Office and Affiliations
Rep. Marino was elected to the Macomb County Commission in 2014, representing residents of Harrison Township and St. Clair Shores. He was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Board of Commissioners and Chair and Vice-Chair of the Justice and Public Safety Committee.

He also served as Macomb County’s delegate to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments Executive Committee; was a member of the Macomb Health Department Hearing Board; served on the National Association of Counties’ Steering Committee on Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs; and was a member of the Michigan Association of Counties’ Economic Development Committee. He also served on the Harrison Township Zoning Board, and is currently a member of the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy and Military Affairs Committees.

Rep. Marino is active in the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce, L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Foundation, Huron Pointe Homeowners Association and Selfridge Base Community Council.

He also serves as Co-Chair of the L’Anse Creuse Community Action Coalition, Chair of OperationRx’s Legislative Steering Subcommittee, and is involved in other local community advocacy organizations.

Personal
Rep. Marino lives in Harrison Township and enjoys spending time on Lake St. Clair.
