State Rep. Julie Calley was first elected to the Michigan House in November 2016 and represents the residents of Barry County and part of Ionia County including the townships of Boston, Campbell, Danby, Keene, Lyons, North Plains, Odessa, Orange, Portland, Ronald, Sebewa, most of Berlin Township, and the City of Portland.
Committees
Calley serves as chair of the Local Government & Municipal Finance Committee, and as a member of the Elections & Ethics, Rules & Competitiveness, and Tax Policy committees.
Education
Calley graduated from Ionia High School then attained a bachelors degree in Business Management from Northwood University.
Professional
Calley spent ten years in real estate management.
Public Office and Affiliations
Calley was elected as an Ionia County Commissioner where she served for eight years, leading the board as chairperson for three years.
In 2011, she was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the Michigan Community Service Commission. She focused on promoting mentoring, literacy and volunteerism. In 2015, Julie was elected as chairperson.
Julie is a current member of South Church and has served in many capacities over the years at First Baptist in Portland, mainly working in youth and women’s ministries.
Personal
Julie resides in Portland with her husband, Brian, and children Collin, Reagan, and Karagan.
