ABOUT THE REPRESENTATIVE

District

Rep. Andrew Beeler was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2020. He represents the 64th House District, which includes Worth Township in Sanilac County and the city of Port Huron, part of the city of St. Clair, the townships of Burtchville, Clyde, Fort Gratiot, Grant, Kimball, and Marysville, and part of St. Clair Township in St. Clair County.

Committees

Andrew serves as a member on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).

Legislative priorities

Andrew serves as assistant Republican leader in the House. As state representative, he sponsored a law to extend the income tax filing deadline during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also spearheaded laws to update state insurance regulations to protect consumers in accordance with current standards. Further, Andrew has led efforts to help Michigan residents save on prescription drugs, cut red tape to help veterans become teachers, and prohibit discriminatory race and gender stereotyping in Michigan’s K-12 public school curriculum.

Education

A St. Clair County native, Andrew graduated from Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Marine City. He then answered the call of duty and enrolled at the U.S. Naval Academy, graduating in 2014. Later, he studied at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy.

Professional

After receiving his naval commission, Andrew served on the USS Chancellorsville, a cruiser, and later on the USS Decatur, a destroyer. During his service, he deployed to the South China Sea, East China Sea, and the Middle East, and he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Junior Officer Leadership Award. Andrew left active duty and joined the Navy Reserve after five years of commissioned service as a surface warfare officer.

Personal

Andrew lives in Port Huron. He and his family have called Southeast Michigan home for four generations.
