State Rep. Dale Zorn announced Monroe County will receive a state grant to help make local government more efficient for the county and local municipalities.
Zorn, R-Ida, said the county will receive $57,846 in Competitive Grant Assistance Program funds from the Michigan Department of Treasury. The money will be used by the county to share its information technology services and continue cooperation between cities, townships and villages within the county.
“I strongly support the consolidation of government services that provide a savings to local governments. This is an ideal example of local governments working together to come up with solutions as to how they can most efficiently serve their residents while reducing the cost of government,” Zorn said. “I am proud of Monroe County for creating innovative solutions as to how to streamline services, which saves taxpayer money and also improves response time to residents.”
