Whiteford responds to governor’s budget recommendations
RELEASE|February 6, 2020

State Rep. Mary Whiteford, chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, today issued the following response to the governor’s budget presentation:

“I am pleased the governor recognizes we must address the high rate of infant mortality in Michigan, and that the best way to do that is to offer evidence-based home visiting services to high-risk mothers and vulnerable families and to expand perinatal psychiatric support services.

“As a West Michigan lakeshore representative, I am also concerned about the effects rising water levels have had in our communities. Our shorelines and lakeshore residents need more support. We will carefully consider the governor’s recommendations, as well as other options related to erosion response and prevention.”
