State Rep. Rob VerHeulen today was appointed by House Speaker Jase Bolger to join the House Appropriations Committee and chair the appropriations subcommittee on transportation.
“I am pleased with the way the committee structure has come together and I am ready to get to work on finishing the budget early this year,” said VerHeulen, R-Walker. “I look forward to the discussions ahead about the best ways to solve our transportation issues – not just roads and bridges, but also harbors, dredging, rail and air transport.
“Transportation is a golden thread throughout our state – it is sewn into nearly every other issue that affects the people of Michigan. Agriculture, manufacturing and tourism will all see benefits as we improve our transportation system, which will deliver results in terms of job expansion.”
VerHeulen also will serve as the vice chair of the Department of Community Health appropriations subcommittee, and serve on the subcommittees on judiciary and higher education.
